Ride For Dad

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men. For the past four years, we’ve supported the volunteers behind Ride for Dad, who are fighting this disease by raising awareness and much-needed funds for research.

Ride for Dad is a motorcycle rally that brings out people from all walks of life to support this important cause. The event is a labour of love, fuelled by dedicated volunteers who share their passion for motorcycles with their desire to make a difference. Many have faced prostate cancer, some have lost friends or family to it. All are committed to reducing the impact of this deadly disease.

In Canada, more than 23,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. Of those, 3,900 patients will lose their lives to this silent killer. Put another way, this means that every day, 65 men will be diagnosed, and 11 will die from prostate cancer.

The Ride For Dad event aims to shine a little light on this disease, and get men talking about what can be an uncomfortable topic. The more people talk about it and understand the disease and its symptoms, the more they can recognize the signs and get the proper testing and medical attention they need to beat prostate cancer.

As the Presenting Sponsor since 2013, we are so pleased to see Ride for Dad raise more money and awareness each year - the 2016 event raised $35,700 for research that will happen right here in Halifax. All because of the drive of a die-hard group of volunteers. We are proud to be a part of it.
